We reported a few months ago that the Chinese government issued a new regulation, requiring every new mobile game need to get government approval before its publishing, starting from July 1st, this year.
For those mobile titles which were already released before July 1st, they need to get approval by the end of October 1st, or they will be removed from Apple’s App store and Android stores.
The good news is those titles that need to be approved by the end of October 1st, now will have extra three months to get it done. Just on September 19th, a new notice was issued to postpone the approval deadline to December 31st, this year.
According to official statistics, there are a total of 782 mobile games that have been approved from July 1st to September 12th, among which 107 tiles were approved in July, 443 in August and 226 in September, respectively. Based on this process speed, we can expect there will be over 1,000 titles to be approved for the next three months.
